First Dip into Lake Ouachita, Arkansas
"A Clear Midnight" / Walt Whitman--Come take a little escape with me. A trip into the deep and humid south of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Back beyond the dense foreign forest and around the river. There you'll find Lake Ouachita. A large oasis littered with small islands where boat houses and small skimmers alike find shores to retreat to, transforming them into their own private beaches - even if for just an afternoon or two.
Traditional summer adventures await, for the brave of heart you'll find a high cliff to jump from. The thrill equalling the harsh wind of gravity grazing up your legs as you plummet into an emerald cove. Where the haphazard scrawling of dates, names, and sweethearts' promises are worn on the cliff face.Fill your days with jet skiing and flying across the deep blue lake water. Minutes slip away with the speed of the boat, jumping and skimming across the fragile water top.
Afternoons with shandy in hand and a dragonfly partner in the other. The mornings are warm and bake your face under the glaring sun. The evenings are no cooler, but the heat breeds a soft romantic light resembling rosy cheeks, late into the night. We stayed with a friend of mine at her family's lake house. We spent our days floating around the lake, drinking plenty of beer, laughing at ourselves, and all in all wasting the long warm days away.
