Golden Gate Bridge

As I teased before, I would be posting about my trip to San Francisco. And what is a trip to the bay without visiting that big red beauty they call the Golden Gate Bridge? The weather improved just enough so we decided to venture out onto the bridge and walk all 1.7 miles of it's impressive steel engineering. When viewing the structure as a whole, you simply see it as a bridge like so many others, including her sister the Oakland Bay Bridge. It's only when you look at the details that you notice the bridge's special qualities. The worn edges of bolts and rivets give the bridge character and the teal waters of bay harmoniously backdrop this impressive man-made structure. The best part of the bridge, is the view of the city - and that color! That burnt red-orange painted beauty gleams on the bay. The off-shore rocks, teal waters, and white houses that dot the shores all combine into a perfectly painted seaside landscape.
